What Is the CCAT?

The Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test (CCAT) is a 50-question, 15-minute pre-employment assessment used by companies including Crossover, Salesforce, Vista Equity Partners, Cintas, Progressive, Reynolds and Reynolds, and Gartner worldwide. It is one of the most widely used cognitive aptitude tests in professional hiring.

The CCAT measures three core reasoning areas under strict time pressure — numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning, and abstract and spatial reasoning. Candidates are ranked by percentile against all other candidates who have taken the test. Employers use the percentile score to determine whether you advance in the hiring process.

What This Course Covers

Each of the 6 practice tests mirrors the real CCAT format exactly — 50 questions in 15 minutes, no calculator, no negative marking. The tests cover all question types across the three CCAT sections.

Numerical Reasoning — percentages, fractions, ratios, word problems, and number series. Approximately 18 questions per test.

Verbal Reasoning — analogies, antonyms, sentence completion, and reading comprehension. Approximately 14 questions per test.

Abstract and Spatial Reasoning — pattern recognition, shape sequences, and spatial logic. Approximately 18 questions per test.

Every question includes a worked solution explaining the correct answer and the reasoning strategy behind it.

Personalised Section Analysis After Every Test

After completing each of the 6 practice tests you automatically receive a section analysis email showing your accuracy breakdown across Numerical, Verbal, Abstract and Logical Reasoning — and at subsection level showing which specific question types you got right and wrong. This tells you exactly where to focus before your next attempt. No competitor course offers this feature.

Who Uses the CCAT in 2026

The CCAT is used by employers across insurance, technology, consulting, logistics, private equity, and SaaS. Companies currently using the CCAT include Crossover, Cintas, Progressive, Reynolds and Reynolds, Gartner, and Vista Equity Partners. Coding bootcamps including Tech Elevator, Hack Reactor, and BloomTech also require the CCAT for admissions.

If you have received a CCAT test invitation from any of these employers, this course gives you the most direct preparation available — full-length timed simulations at real exam difficulty with immediate feedback on every question.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many questions are on the real CCAT?

The CCAT has 50 questions to be completed in 15 minutes. Most test takers do not answer all 50 — the average score is around 24 correct answers out of 50.

Is there negative marking on the CCAT?

No. Wrong answers score zero, the same as unanswered questions. Always attempt every question — an educated guess at a 1-in-5 chance is always better than leaving a blank.

What score do I need to pass the CCAT?

There is no universal passing score. Each employer sets their own benchmark based on role complexity and applicant pool strength. Most professional roles expect a score between 24 and 32. See our CCAT score guide for employer-specific benchmarks.

How many times can I retake the practice tests?

Each of the 6 practice tests can be retaken as many times as you need. You have lifetime access to all course content after purchase.

Is a calculator allowed on the CCAT?

No. The real CCAT does not permit calculators or any external tools. All calculations must be done mentally or on paper. Our course replicates this condition exactly.

How is the CCAT scored?

Your raw score — the number of correct answers — is converted to a percentile. Employers see your percentile ranking relative to all other candidates who have taken the test, not your raw score in isolation.

Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test Practice
Instructions: You’ll be given 15 minutes to complete the entire test. While it's uncommon for test-takers to answer all 50 questions within the time limit, aim to respond to as many as possible. Work through each question with focus, but avoid getting stuck — if you're unsure of an answer, make an educated guess and keep moving forward. Scoring is simple: you earn one point for every correct response, and there are no penalties for wrong answers. As the test continues, the difficulty level gradually increases. Important Note: The use of calculators or any external tools is strictly prohibited. Be sure to have a pen and paper handy for rough work during the test.
